Production and sale of seeds

Genetic innovations and use of certified seeds constitute a major stake for the Group’s cooperative farmer-members and businesses within the scope of the development of state of the art agriculture, capable of producing more and of a higher quality.

With 4 factories at its disposal Axereal processes 18,000 hectares of seed production assigned to 650 seed growers.

Axereal has commercial ties with Cohésis within the Geosem company which markets 1,000,000 quintals of cereal and oilseed. The new brand ranks among the top French producers of certified seeds.

Axereal is present in Central Europe with its position as leader in brewing barley seed production through the Mitemag (Hungary) and PPK (Croatia) Companies.

Technical and economical advice

Seed, fertilizer and crop protection product supply is carried out as part of a strengthening of the Group’s expertise and professionalism.

Partnerships with technical institutes, approvals, accreditations, and signing up to the Cooperative Council Charter are as many guarantees of the quality of the consultancy given to cooperative associates, as much as for technical, economic and regulatory information.

Nearly 200 technicians bring the most innovative techniques into everyday use; for example, the crops via Farmstar grown from satellite imagery. In 2011, 200,000 hectares were guided by Farmstar and 2012 will mark the 10 year anniversary of the use of this decision-making tool by Axereal farmers. On a national level, the Axereal Group represents 50% of the areas managed by Farmstar in France. The internet is becoming predominant in improving the efficiency, speed and reliability of the exchange of information.

Sustainable development

Recycling of plastic waste: a collective awareness
After 7 years of plastic waste collection, the great majority of farmers follow the sorting instructions, within the ADIVALOR guidelines. In the 2010 and 2011 campaigns, the Group collected 1800 tons of used plastic, including 500 tons of silage cover film, 140 tons of nets, 150 tons of strings and 100 tons of fertilizer and seed “big bags”. This represents a volume equivalent to the amount of products sold by the cooperative.

Collection of empty packaging (EVPP) or unused products (PPNU) for plant health products. Twice a year our cooperatives organize a collection service with transport and removal of bottles, plastic or metal drums, cardboard boxes and paper bags. Axereal also organizes the collection of unused end of line products, in partnership with ADIVALOR and the local Chambers of Agriculture.
