Boortmalt has an immediate opening for a qualified Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright at our malt processing plant in Biggar, SK. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is an integral member of the plant maintenance team responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment in a safe and cost effective manner and participate fully in the plant safety program.
Our Collective Agreement includes comprehensive benefits including company pension plan, an annual bonus (incentive plan), paid lunch-breaks and standard dayshift work schedules consisting of 4x10-hr dayshift weekdays, with minimal mandatory overtime and off-hour (paid) call-ins.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
50% Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on plant assets, including equipment rebuilds, asset replacement, and lubrication duties as assigned. Keeping Document control.
30% Perform corrective maintenance on plant assets resulting from preventative maintenance issues as they arise.
10% - Participate in meetings, training activities, and in plant safety and food safety programs.
5% - Respond to unexpected breakdowns and perform critical repairs as required.
5% - Other projects and activities as assigned.
Master recherché
Minimum of two years working experience within industrial mechanic and/or millwright experience, along with a high level of mechanical aptitude (I.e. Auto Mechanic, Heavy Duty Mechanic.
Fluently to read, write and speak English.
Ability to work standard dayshift schedules consisting of 4x10-hr dayshift on weekdays
Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations
Strong problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills
Strong work ethic and a desire to be part of a high performing team
Flexible with schedule of working hours including longer hours, weekends, and on call when required. Must be capable of being on a rotating on-call schedule
Ability to work in various work conditions ( noise, odours, dust)
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a non-temporary basis
Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and work in elevated areas of the plant
Requires Near/Far, Depth, Colour vision
Walking/Standing on indoor surfaces 100% of day per 10 hour shift.
Required to wear rubber boots, wetsuit, rubber gloves and respirator at different times throughout the day
Required to wear hard hat, gloves and ear/eye protection, including hearing and respiratory personal protection devices such as ear plugs, dust masks, and respirators
