Following the recent explosion in Beirut that has threatened the local population’s capacity to feed itself and risks causing a flour shortage in Lebanon, Axiane Meunerie, an Axereal cooperative subsidiary, is assisting the milling industry and the government in their relief efforts.

“Food security for the local people is a priority. Axereal Group has always been at the centre of this effort, and now Axiane Meunerie has immediately stepped in to help the national relief programme for the Lebanese population,” explains Jean-François Loiseau, Chairman of Axereal.

On Friday, Axiane Meunerie made its first delivery to Toulon Port of 50 tonnes of flour that will be gradually shipped to Lebanon by helicopter carrier Le Tonnerre. “Responding to the national appeal, the teams at Axiane Meunerie took action at unprecedented speed to produce, earmark and package stock as well as handling the logistics to ensure a speedy delivery. A swift response that matches the reactivity of the French milling industry,” adds David Hubert, CEO of Axiane Meunerie.
