E-Commerce apprentice

I started as an apprentice in Axereal’s e-commerce department in June 2022. I work as assistant webmaster, and alongside that I’m in the second year of my Master’s in Marketing and Communication.

This blog will be an opportunity for me to talk about my job and the different tasks it involves.

My permanent position

mon embauche en CDI

I joined Axereal in June 2022 as an apprentice in the second year of my Master’s in Marketing and Communications. When I arrived, I didn’t know anything about the assistant digital marketer role. I had to learn everything from scratch: how to code a website, edit a video, analyse the data from a campaign, etc.

For me, this apprenticeship was a chance to learn a job role, gain new skills and overcome challenges.

I’m proud to work for this company, and even more proud to have been asked to stay on after my apprenticeship.

In February, I started a permanent position as assistant digital marketer in the e-commerce team. Since then, the team has grown: Whitney, our new apprentice, has joined us. She’s studying for a Master’s in Marketing and Communications too.

And so this is the last post in my blog. Thanks for following my journey!

Developing my skills

During my apprenticeship, I’ve had the opportunity to try out and work with various pieces of software.

I was already familiar with some of them, like Photoshop and Lightroom from the Adobe suite. By using them in my work as assistant web marketer I’ve been able to expand my knowledge of the software, and I can now use it more quickly and do more with it.

My apprenticeship has also given me opportunities to try some new programmes. The first of these is Premiere Pro, from the Adobe Suite, which I use for video editing. The second is Cyberduck, and I use it to put visuals, photos and documents on the Axereal e-commerce website.

Being given access to these programmes and the opportunity to ask for help when I need it has enabled me to develop my existing skills and learn new ones.

Meeting our farmers

À la rencontre des agriculteurs

One of the responsibilities I’ve taken on during my apprenticeship is to increase the number of farmers using @X, Axereal’s new e-commerce platform.

We wanted to harness user stories as an effective way to promote the platform. After discussing the project with the communication department staff, we decided to use a video format. The team provided us with equipment and some excellent advice to help make our project a success. So off we went to meet Servane Thomas, a farmer from the Loire Nivernais. Once we had filmed her talking about the platform and edited the rushes to make a captivating video, we shared the film with our farmers.

This project was an opportunity for me to talk with the farmers and understand their needs and expectations, as well as their working environments.

As a result of this project, I’ve tweaked the way I communicate with our target market. It was also an opportunity for me to learn to use a new video editing platform. In addition, I got to work with the communications department. They gave me some great advice on how to make the video.

Axereal farmers get connected

@X

We’re all familiar with the idea of e-commerce and online shopping. When we need a product or service, at home or at work, we very often turn to the internet.

In 2019, Axereal started offering farmers everything their farms need online – seed, fertilizers, crop protection products and equipment, for example.

They order through a platform called @X, which lists over 4,000 agricultural products.

And this platform, @X, is the focus of my work. It’s my job to create and share promotional images, complete the product sheets for the items that we sell and analyse and enhance the customer journey for visitors.
