The Centre-Val de Loire Region has officially signed the “Filière locales lentilles vertes du Berry” contract, a collective commitment to support an emblematic local crop in a context of agricultural transition.
This support aims to help farmers cope with climate change, structure the industry and guarantee sustainable markets.
This industry plan is structured around 4 main themes:
- "Ensuring the long-term future of the Berry green lentil sector - Adapting specifications to maintain the sector's quality standards.
- “Adapting to maintain the sector's excellence” - Maintaining the sector's added value by adapting to climate change.
- “Enabling the industry's resilience through diversification” - Structuring new production channels
- “Animate the local industry” - Ensure the implementation of the local industry

By 2025, 55 growers will be cultivating 925 hectares of green lentils, spread over 49 communes in the Indre and Cher departments.
