CultivUp, Axereal's certified Sustainable Agriculture client initiative
The Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform, which brings together agri-food industries, has drawn up an international standard for sustainable agriculture. The SAI has awarded Axereal a silver medal for its members' commitment through the CultivUp initiative.
Olivet, 13 November, 2017 – "Our aim is to support agri-food industries in securing their supply chain through an offer of sustainable raw materials. CultivUp strengthens the link between consumer and producer," explained Céline Montauriol, head of CSR for the Axereal Group. The SAI platform's agri-food industry members include such major names as Unilever, Heineken, Mondelez and Nestlé. It defines sustainable agriculture standards to meet increasing consumer demand.
Through its CultivUp initiative, Axereal Group meets all criteria: economic, societal and environmental. More than 1,700 Axereal members have committed to the initiative and that number will rise to 4,000 by 2022. Axereal Group is already able to offer its agro-industrial clients grains coming from sustainable agriculture.
The certification audit carried out by Control Union has resulted in us being awarded the silver medal. "These days, our clients are more and more demanding regarding the production criteria for the raw material they purchase. Through CultivUp, we are helping raise overall standards in the French grain sector," said Céline Montauriol.
This initiative means the Group can guarantee its agro-industrial clients supplies which respect their own sustainability criteria - a commitment they can promote to customers when presenting end products.
