Axereal is proud to have supported the Rugby Heritage Cup, the first rugby world cup for schools, which was held in Pontlevoy (Loir-et-Cher) from 1 to 7 September 2023.
Girls’ and boys’ teams from twenty nations came together for the event, encouraged by hundreds of fans, top names from the world of rugby, journalists and local authority representatives.
Axereal group’s farmers and staff, who have supported the event since its inception, turned out to encourage the young players throughout the week.
Alongside the matches, Axiane Meunerie worked with young people from all over the world to present workshops on breads from around the globe each evening.
Jean-François Loiseau, Axereal Chairman, said: “This all-new and edifying event, organised in the Loir-et-Cher department at the heart of Axereal territory, highlighted human values including solidarity, courage and teamwork. These are the same values that our farmers, staff and partners display every day.”
Paul-Yves L'Anthoën, Axereal CEO, said: “Teamwork is essential in rugby, just as it is in a cooperative like ours. Whether we’re farmers, staff or elected representatives, we have to think collectively to bring our projects to fruition in the long term. And that’s how, through teamwork, we accomplish the ambitious challenges we set for ourselves.”
Our sincere congratulations go to all the players, and in particular the “Enfants de l’Ovale” girls’ team who won the trophy. The President of the Region François Bonneau, Axereal administrator Valérie Leguereau and Axereal CEO Paul-Yves L'Anthoën attended the trophy presentation ceremony.
During the week, we were also delighted to organise the final of our own group rugby tournament, the culmination of a full year of carefully planned activities involving staff and farmers.
The event, held on 4 September, brought together 17 teams: the qualifying French teams and an international team from our Boortmalt subsidiary including players from Argentina, Spain and Australia.
The team from Boortmalt Issoudun took home the cup. Congratulations to them and to all the players!
