Axereal (group and agriculture teams) has signed a collective agreement in favour of employing workers with disabilities, to run until 31 December 2025.

The agreement has been accredited by the DREETS (regional directorate for business, employment, work and solidarity), making Axereal one of the businesses most committed to disability inclusion in the region.

“This agreement is an important step forward in terms of the impetus that the group wishes to give to the issue of disability at work. We intend, progressively, to formalise a regular programme of awareness-raising initiatives for our staff, but first and foremost we want to focus our attention on our colleagues with disabilities, and encourage applicants with disabilities to join us,” said Joan Vallet, Human Resources and Communications Director for Agriculture and Channels.

The agreement that has been signed brings together the first concrete initiatives to support staff with disabilities, including:

  • Three extra days of leave for medical appointments
  • A specific induction process for new joiners with disabilities
  • Adaptations to job roles
  • Opportunities for remote working, with a third day granted for eligible roles
  • Specific training programmes (skills appraisals, training courses for career changers, etc.)

“To become an attractive employer for people with disabilities, we plan to raise our profile within specialist forums to improve our understanding of applicants’ needs, and make our job roles more adaptable to their requirements. This is a vast topic, and we’re definitely taking a ‘continuous improvement’ approach,” said Marie Métais, Axereal’s disability programme lead.

Further awareness-raising initiatives will be organised for staff over the coming months. Recent projects for the teams have included a sign language taster session, a wheelchair basketball tournament and a chance to meet wheelchair tennis players. And ideas abound to keep the impetus going!
